David Coverdale was born in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Redcar and Cleveland, England. He is an English singer and musician, most famous for his work with Whitesnake, the commercially successful hard rock band he founded in 1978. In 1978 Coverdale released his second solo album Northwinds, which was received much better than the previous album. But before the album's release, he had already formed a new band. A collaboration album with Jimmy Page, released in 1993, was a commercial and critical success.
