John Tony Salazar was born in Alamosa, Colorado, USA. He is an American Democratic politician and farmer. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Colorado's 3rd congressional district (2005-2011). He was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2003-2004. Following his service in Congress, he was appointed as Commissioner of the Colorado Department of Agriculture from 2011-2014. His younger brother, Ken Salazar, is a former United States Senator from Colorado and the former Secretary of the Interior appointed by President Barack Obama. He earned a BS degree in business administration from Adams State College in 1981.
