Harvey Morrison Penick was born in Austin, Texas, USA. He was an American professional golfer and coach. Late in life, he became a best-selling writer. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002. He began his golf career as a caddy at the Austin Country Club at age eight. He was the golf coach at the University of Texas from 1931 to 1963. He coached the following members of the World Golf Hall of Fame: Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw, Mickey Wright, Betsy Rawls, and Kathy Whitworth. He wrote several books include: The Wisdom of Harvey Penick(with Bud Shrake), The Game for a Lifetime, and For All Who Love the Game.
