Jeffry Lane Flake was born in Snowflake, Arizona, USA. He is an American Republican politician who since 2013 has served as the Junior United States Senator from Arizona. He served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona's 1st district from 2001-2003, and Arizona's 6th district from 2003-2013. He earned a BA degree in International Relations and an MA degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University. He opposed economic sanctions on South Africa in the 1980s, arguing that sanctions would harm the black population who were already suffering under Apartheid policies. He married to Cheryl Flake in 1985. They have five children.
