John Michael Turturro was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. He is an American actor, film director and screenwriter. He majored in Theatre Arts at the State University of New York at New Paltz, and completed his MFA from the Yale School of Drama. His role in several films include: Exterminator 2, The Color of Money, Five Corners, Catchfire, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink (Won- Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor), Mac (also director and writer), Quiz Show (Nominated- Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting actor), Illuminata (also director and writer, Nominated- Palme d'Or), The Big Lebowski, Collateral Damage, Secret Window, Transformers, Fading Gigolo (also director and writer), The Ridiculous 6, Hands of Stone, and Going Places (upcoming film, also director and writer). His role in television include: Monday Night Mayhem (TV film), Monk (Won- Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series), The Bronx Is Burning (TV series), The Night Of (crime drama miniseries, Nominated- Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor). He married actress Katherine Borowitz in 1985. They have two sons, Amedeo and Diego.
