James Whitcomb Riley was born in Greenfield, Indiana, USA. He was an American poet. During his lifetime he was known as the "Hoosier Poet" and "Children's Poet" for his dialect works and his children's poetry respectively. His famous works include "Little Orphant Annie" and "The Raggedy Man". He wrote other poems include: Old-Fashioned Roses, Rhymes of Childhood, The Flying Islands of the Night, Poems Here at Home, A Child-World, Home Folks, and Knee Deep in June.
