Ethan Jesse Coen was born in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA. He is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. Ethan and his brother Joel David Coen directed more than 15 films together. Their films include Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading, A Serious Man, True Grit, and The Ladykillers. They have been nominated for thirteen Academy Awards together, plus one individual nomination for each, winning Best Original Screenplay for Fargo and Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for No Country for Old Men. He earned an undergraduate degree in philosophy from Princeton University in 1979.
