John Guare was born in New York City, New York, USA. He is an American playwright and screenwriter. His style, which mixes comic invention with an acute sense of the failure of human relations and aspirations, is at once cruel and deeply compassionate. He earned a BA degree from Georgetown University in 1960. He earned an MFA degree in Playwriting from Yale School of Drama in 1963. He has written several plays include: The House of Blue Leaves (won- Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best American Play and Obie Award for Best American Play), Rich and Famous, Landscape of the Body, Marco Polo Sings a Solo, Bosoms and Neglect, Six Degrees of Separation (Nominated- Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play), Chaucer in Rome, and A Free Man of Color. He has written several films include: Taking Off, Atlantic City, The House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation, and Marvin's Room.
