Frederick Wiseman was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He is an American film director, documentarian, producer, and screenwriter. He gained a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College in 1951 and a Bachelor of Laws from Yale Law School in 1954. The first feature-length film that Wiseman produced was The Cool World in 1963. He next produced and directed Titicut Follies. His documentary films include: High School, Boxing Gym, Public Housing, At Berkeley, In Jackson Heights, Crazy Horse, Basic Training, Meat, and Welfare. In 2003, he was awarded the Dan David Prize for his outstanding films. In 2014 he was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 71st Venice International Film Festival.
