David John Cawdell Irving was born in Brentwood, Essex, England. He is an English author, historian and journalist. He has written many books on the military and political history of World War II, with a focus on Nazi Germany. His works include The Destruction of Dresden, Hitler's War, Churchill's War, and Goebbels: Mastermind of the Third Reich. He wrote for Felix, Imperial's student newspaper, and in 1959 served as editor of the University of London Carnival Committee's journal, Carnival Times. He studied for a degree in political economy at University College London. in 1967, he published two more works: The Virus House, and The Destruction of Convoy PQ-17. In 1968, he published Breach of Security.
