David Norman Dinkins was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He is an American politician who served as the 106th Mayor of New York City, from 1990 to 1993. Before entering politics, he served in the US Marine Corps, graduated cum laude from Howard University with a degree in mathematics and received a law degree from Brooklyn Law School. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the United States Tennis Association, and a member of The Jazz Foundation of America.
