Jennifer L. Weber is an American author, journalist and professor of History at the University of Kansas. She received her PhD from Princeton University in 2003. Her dissertation, "The Divided State of America: Dissent in the Civil War North," won the 2005 Hay-Nicolay Prize for the best graduate work related to Abraham Lincoln. She continues to specialize in Civil War studies at the University of Kansas. She started her professional life as a journalist and later worked as a political aide in the California State Legislature. She is co-director of the Hall Center's seminar on Peace, War, and Global Change. She has written several books include: Copperheads: The Rise and Fall of Lincoln's Opponents in the North, and Summer's Bloodiest Days.
