William Harrison "Jack" Dempsey was born in Manassa, Colorado, USA. He was an American professional boxer who competed from 1914 to 1927, and reigned as the world heavyweight champion from 1919 to 1926. He is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and was inducted into The Ring's Boxing Hall of Fame in 1951. He wrote several books include: Round by round, How To Fight Tough(with Frank G. Menke), Championship Fighting, Michigan and the Civil War, and Capitol Park.
