Jo Ann Emerson was born in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. She is an American politician. She was the U.S. Representative for Missouri's 8th congressional district from 1996 to 2013. In 2013, she resigned her seat in Congress to become the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. She earned a BA degree in Political Science from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1972.
