Douglas William Elmendorf was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. He is an American economist who was the Director of the Congressional Budget Office from 2009 to 2015. He was a Brookings Institution senior fellow from 2007 to 2009, and was a director of the Hamilton Project at Brookings. He will become the Dean of the Harvard Kennedy School in January of 2016.
