Jane Elliott was born in Riceville, Iowa, USA. She is an American anti-racism activist and former schoolteacher. She attended the Iowa State Teachers College, where she attained an emergency elementary teaching certificate in five quarters. She is known for her "Blue eyes–Brown eyes" exercise. In 1953, she began her teaching career in a one-room school in Randall. After leaving her school, she became a diversity educator full-time.
