Henry Arnold Waxman was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is an American politician who served as the U.S. Representative for California's 33rd congressional district from 1975 until 2015. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He served as Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from 2007 to 2009, Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce from 2009 to 2011. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1961 and a J.D. degree from UCLA's law school in 1964. After graduating, he worked as a lawyer. He was elected to the California State Assembly in 1969 and served three terms.
