Joseph Nicholas "Joe" Gores was born in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. He was an American mystery writer. He earned a BA degree in English Literature from Notre Dame University. He earned a master's degree in English Literature from Stanford University in 1961. He worked for 12 years as a real-life private investigator for San Francisco's David Kikkert & Associates. He also worked as an English teacher at a boys' school in Kenya. He wrote several novels include: A Time of Predators (Edgar Award for Best First Novel), Dead Skip, Final Notice, Interface, Wolf Time, Come Morning (Nominations: Edgar Award for Best Novel), 32 Cadillacs (Nominations: Edgar Award for Best Novel), Dead Man, Menaced assassin, Cases, Glass Tiger, and Spade & Archer.
