Henry Valentine Miller was born in Yorkville, Manhattan, USA. He was an American novelist and painter. His most characteristic works of this kind are Tropic of Cancer(novel), Black Sprin(novel), Tropic of Capricorn(novel), and The Rosy Crucifixion trilogy(novel), all of which are based on his experiences in New York and Paris. He was a close friend of the French painter Grégoire Michonze. It is estimated that Miller painted 2,000 watercolors during his life, and that 50 or more major collections of Miller’s paintings exist.
