John Claggett Danforth was born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He is an American Republican politician, diplomat, lawyer and priest. He began his career in 1968 as the Attorney General of Missouri. He served as United States Senator from Missouri (1976-1995). He served as United States Ambassador to the United Nations from 2004-2005. He earned a BA degree in Sociology from Princeton University in 1958. He earned a law degree from Yale Law School in 1963. He earned a BD degree from Yale Divinity School. He was employed a short time at the New York law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. He has written several books include: Resurrection, Faith And Politics, and The Relevance of Religion.
