Elizabeth Janeway was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. She was an American author, novelist, and critic. She graduated from Barnard College in 1935. Her popular novels included The Walsh Girls, Daisy Kenyon, and Leaving Home. In all, she wrote seven novels; one, 1945's Daisy Kenyon, was made into a film starring Joan Crawford. She was a judge for the National Book Awards in 1955 and for the Pulitzer Prize in 1971.
