Frank Garvin Yerby was born in Augusta, Georgia, USA. He was an African-American historical novelist. He graduated from Haines Normal Institute in Augusta and graduated from Paine College in 1937. Thereafter, he enrolled in Fisk University, where he received his Master's degree in 1938. He wrote several novels include: The Saracen blade, Goat Song, The Foxes of Harrow, The Vixens, Captain Rebel, The Garfield Honor, Judas, My Brother, The Dahomean, The devil's laughter, Floodtide, and Devilseed.
