Gaston Caperton was the 31st Governor of the U.S. state of West Virginia from 1989 until 1997. He was the president of the College Board, which administers the nationally recognized SAT and AP tests. Caperton announced his intention to step down as president of the College Board effective June 30, 2012. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
