George R. Nethercutt, Jr. was born in Spokane, Washington, USA. He is an American politician and lawyer. He was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 2005, representing Washington's 5th congressional district. He earned a B.A. in English from Washington State University in 1967 and a law degree from Gonzaga University in 1971. He has founded The George Nethercutt Foundation in Spokane, Washington. A lawyer by training and profession, he practiced law for 18 years before being elected to Congress. He handled more than 2000 adoptions in his law practice. He currently serves as Of Counsel with the international Intellectual Property Law Firm, Lee & Hayes.
