Stephen Grover Cleveland was born in Caldwell, New Jersey, USA. He was an American democratic politician and lawyer who served as the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. He is the only President in American history to serve two non-consecutive terms in office. He was the winner of the popular vote for president three times – in 1884, 1888, and 1892 – and was one of the three Democrats to serve as president during the era of Republican political domination dating from 1861 to 1933. He received his elementary education at the Fayetteville Academy and the Clinton Liberal Academy. In January 1863, he was appointed assistant district attorney of Erie County. As a lawyer, he became known for his single-minded concentration and dedication to hard work.
