James Hovis "Jim" Hodges was born in Lancaster, South Carolina, USA. He is an American politician who served as the 114th Governor of South Carolina from 1999 to 2003. He attended Davidson College and transferred to the University of South Carolina, where he graduated with a BSBA in 1979. In 1982, he earned a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. From 1983 to 1986, he served as Lancaster County Attorney. He served as South Carolina House of Representatives from 1986-1997.
