Edmund Gerald Brown Jr., known as Jerry Brown was born in San Francisco, California, USA. He is an American politician and lawyer who has been the 39th Governor of California since 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 34th governor from 1975 to 1983, and is the longest-serving governor in California history. He served as Secretary of State of California from 1971-1975. He served as Chairman of the California Democratic Party from 1989-1991. He served as Mayor of Oakland from 1999-2007, and then Attorney General of California from 2007-2011. He earned a BA degree in Latin and Greek from the University of California at Berkeley in 1961, and then entered Yale Law School, where he graduated in 1964. After law school, Brown worked as a law clerk for California Supreme Court Justice Mathew Tobriner. He married to Anne Gust in 2005.
