James Matthes "Jim" Talent was born in Des Peres, Missouri,USA. He is an American republican politician, lawyer and professor. He is former United States Senator from Missouri(2002-2007). He earned a BA (political science) degree from Washington University, St. Louis in 1978. He earned a JD degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1981. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge Richard A. Posner. He served as an adjunct professor at Washington University Law school in St. Louis from 1984-86. He married Brenda Lee Lyons in 1984. They have three children, Katy, Chrissy, and Michael. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1984. He served as a U.S. House of Representatives from Missouri's 2nd district(1993-2001). He worked as a senior adviser to Mitt Romney's 2008 presidential campaign. He is also a co-chairman at Mercury, a Washington D.C. lobbying firm.
