Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin, best known by her pseudonym George Sand was born in Paris, France. She was a French novelist. She wrote several novels include: Indiana, Valentine, Lelia, Jacques, Valvèdre, Mauprat, Le Compagnon du Tour de France, Consuelo, A Winter in Majorca, Le Meunier d'Angibault, La Mare au Diable, François le Champi, La Petite Fadette, and Les Beaux Messieurs Bois-Doré. She is equally well known for her much publicized romantic affairs with a number of artists, including Polish-French composer and pianist Frédéric Chopin and the writer Alfred de Musset.
