George Galloway was born in Dundee, Scotland. He is a British politician. Between the general elections in 1987 and 2015, with a gap between 2010 and 2012, he represented four constituencies as a Member of Parliament, elected as a candidate for the Labour Party and later the Respect Party. He testified to the United States Senate in 2005 over alleged illicit payments from the United Nations' Oil for Food Program. He supports the Palestinian side of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, taking an anti-Zionist stance, and was involved in the Viva Palestina aid convoys. He was described by Tom Happold of The Guardian in 2005 as being "renowned for his colourful rhetoric and combative debating style.".
