Carrie Frances Fisher was born in Beverly Hills, California. She is an American actress, novelist, screenwriter and playwright. She is best known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, and will reprise the character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She is also known for her bestselling novel Postcards from the Edge and screenplay for the film of the same name, as well as her autobiographical one-woman play and the nonfiction book Wishful Drinking on which it is based. In April 1978, she appeared as the love interest in Ringo Starr's 1978 TV special Ringo. She also appeared in the Broadway production of Agnes of God in 1982. During the 1990s, Fisher also published the novels Surrender the Pink and Delusions of Grandma.
