David Daniel Kaminsky was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was an American actor, singer, dancer, and comedian. He starred in 17 movies, notably "Wonder Man" , The Kid from Brooklyn, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Inspector General, Hans Christian Andersen, White Christmas, and The Court Jester. He was the first ambassador-at-large of UNICEF in 1954 and received the French Legion of Honor in 1986 for his years of work with the organization. He made his film debut in a 1935 comedy short Moon Over Manhattan. He starred in a radio program, The Danny Kaye Show, on CBS in 1945–46. He hosted the 24th Academy Awards in 1952. The program was broadcast on radio.
