Richard John McMoran Wilson, 2nd Baron Moran, known as John Wilson was a British diplomat. He was one of the ninety hereditary peers elected to remain in the House of Lords after the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999. He was educated at Eton College in Berkshire. He earned a BA degree in history from King's College, Cambridge. He served in the Royal Naval Reserve from 1943 to 1945. He served as British Ambassador to Hungary from 1973-1976 and British Ambassador to Portugal from 1976–1981. From 1981-1984, he was appointed High Commissioner to Canada. In 1973, he wrote a biography about Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman (Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1905-1908), for which he received the Whitbread Award for Biography. In 1978, he received also the Grand Cross of the Portuguese Order of Infante D. Henrique.
