About
John Robert Whiting was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. He was an English playwright and screenwriter. He studied at Taunton School in Somerset, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London, and pursued an acting career before and after his service in the Royal Artillery during World War II. He wrote several plays include: A penny for a song, Marching Song, The Gates of Summer, and The Devils. He wrote several films include: The Ship That Died of Shame, The Captain's Table, and Young Cassidy.
