About
John Skelton, also known as John Shelton was an English poet and tutor to King Henry VIII of England. He studied at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. He wrote several poems include: The Book of Phillip Sparrow, With Lullay, Lullay, A Replycacion, The Tunning of Elynour Rummyng, A Ballad of the Scottsysshe Kyne, The Bowge of Courte, and The complete English poems. He wrote three major political and clerical satires, including Speke Parrot, Collyn Clout, and Why come ye nat to courte.
