John Daniel Singleton was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He studied at Blair High School, Pasadena City College and the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He also studied at the University of Southern California. He directed several films include: Boyz n the Hood (Nominated- Academy Award for Best Director), Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Rosewood, Shaft, Baby Boy, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Four Brothers, and Abduction. He produced several films include: Higher Learning, Shaft, Baby Boy, Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, and Illegal Tender. He has written several films include: Boyz n the Hood (Nominated- Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay), Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Shaft, and Baby Boy. He recently co-created the crime drama Snowfall.
