John David Logan was born in San Diego, California, USA. He is an American playwright, screenwriter and producer. His parents emigrated to the US from Northern Ireland via Canada. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1983. He has written several plays include: Red, I'll Eat You Last, Peter and Alice, Never the Sinner, and Decade (with Paul Laverty and Tony Kushner). He has written several films include: Bats, RKO 281, Gladiator (Nominated- Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay), The Aviator (Nominated- Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay, and Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay), Sweeney Todd (also producer), Coriolanus (also producer), Hugo (Nominated- Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay), Spectre, Genius, and Alien: Covenant.
