John David Landis was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He is an American film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. When Landis was a young boy, he watched The 7th Voyage of Sinbad which inspired him to become a director. He directed several films include: Schlock (also writer), Animal House, The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Twilight Zone (also producer, writer), Into the Night, Three Amigos, Coming to America, Oscar, The Stupids, Blues Brothers 2000 (also producer, writer), Susan's Plan (also producer, writer), and Burke & Hare. His role in several films include: Schlock, 1941, The Blues Brothers, Into the Night, Darkman, Sleepwalkers, The Silence of the Hams, Diamonds, The Axe, and Look. His role in television include: Psycho IV: The Beginning (TV film), Dream On (TV series, also Executive producer, Directed 17 episodes), and The Stand (miniseries). He married Deborah Nadoolman in 1980. They have two children.
