John Harrigan is an American author and professor. John grew up in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from Loyola University of Chicago. He earned an MA degree in International Relations from the University of Chicago. He passed the Foreign Service exam and became a Foreign Service Officer for the U. S. Information Service where he served at the U. S. Embassy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His next Foreign Service assignment was to be a regional public affairs officer in Vietnam. He received his PhD in Political Science from Georgetown University in 1970. He spent 30 years at Hamline University where he taught political science, chaired the department, and served as assistant dean of Liberal Arts. He has written several books include: The Patron Saint of Desperate Situations (novel), The Jeeptown Sock Hop (novel), Belly and Guts (short story collection), Kingdom, Necessary Evil, Nemesis, Welcome to the mansion, Survive, Foundry, and Overdrive.
