John Norman is the pen name of John Frederick Lange, Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He is an American author of the Gor series of fantasy novels, and a professor of philosophy. He earned a BA degree from the University of Nebraska in 1953. He earned an MA degree from the University of Southern California in 1957. He received his PhD from Princeton University in 1963. He served as a professor at Queens College New York.
