Joe Linus Barton was born in Waco, McLennan County, Texas, USA. He is an American Republican politician. He representing Texas's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1985. He earned a BS degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University in 1972, and an MS degree in industrial administration from Purdue University in 1973. In terms of his positions, he advocates for deregulation of the electricity and natural gas industries, and he serves as vice-chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committees. He recently led the successful efforts to repeal the oil export ban in the House.
