James William Johnson was born in Port Arthur, Texas, USA. He is an American former football coach. He served as the head football coach at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater from 1979 to 1983 and the University of Miami from 1984 to 1988. He then moved to the National Football League, serving as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys from 1989 to 1993, winning two Super Bowls with the team, both against the Buffalo Bills, and the Miami Dolphins from 1996 to 1999. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2012.
