Philip James Elliot was born in Portland, Oregon, USA. He was an American missionary. He was an evangelical Christian who was one of five missionaries killed while participating in Operation Auca, an attempt to evangelize the Huaorani people of Ecuador. He studied architectural drawing at Benson Polytechnic High School and Wheaton College.
