Janet Wood Reno was born in Miami, Florida, USA. She was an American lawyer. She earned a BS degree in Chemistry fron Cornell University in 1960. She earned an LLB degree from Harvard Law School in 1963. In 1971, she joined the staff of the Judiciary Committee of the Florida House of Representatives. In 1973, she worked on a project to revise the state's system of rules and regulations for criminal procedures. In 1978, she was appointed State Attorney for Miami-Dade County. She served as Attorney General of the United States from 1993 until 2001, nominated by President Bill Clinton. She was the first woman to serve as Attorney General and the second-longest serving Attorney General in U.S. history, after William Wirt. Reno never married and did not have children.
