James "Jim" Boren was born in Wheatland, Oklahoma, USA. He was an American humorist and writer. He was also a businessman, teacher, scholar, public servant, political operative, presidential candidate and public speaker. He earned a BA degree and his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned an MA degree from California State University, Long Beach. He earned an MA degree from the University of Southern California. He initially worked in the independent oil business in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1961 President John F. Kennedy appointed him Deputy Director of the U.S. Economic Mission to Peru. In 1992, he was an official candidate for President of the United States, for the Apathy Party of America. He wrote several books include: When in doubt, mumble, Have your way with bureaucrats, The bureaucratic zoo, Fuzzify!, Twiggle, and How to be a Sincere Phoney.
