His role in several films include: Dr. Strangelove, The Comedians, The Great White Hope(won- Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year- Actor, nominated- Golden Globe Award for Best Actor- Motion Picture Drama, nominated- Academy Award for Best Actor), The Man, Claudine, The Greatest, A Piece of the Action, My Little Girl, Matewan, Best of the Best, Grim Prairie Tales, Clean Slate, Undercover Angel, and Gimme Shelter.
