Jacob Joseph "Jack" Lew was born in New York City, New York, USA. He is an American lawyer and politician. He was the 76th United States Secretary of the Treasury, serving from 2013 to 2017. He served as the 25th White House Chief of Staff from 2012 to 2013. He previously served as Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Clinton and Obama Administrations. He earned a B.A. degree from Harvard College in 1978 and his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1983. He served as a professor at Public Administration, New York University from 2001-06. He worked as an attorney in private practice before working as a deputy in Boston's office of management and budget. In 1993, he began work for the Clinton Administration as Special Assistant to the President.
