Isaac Emmanuilovich Babel was born in Odessa, Ukraine. He was a Russian playwright and short story writer. He is best known as the author of Red Cavalry(collection of short stories), Story of My Dovecote, and Tales of Odessa(collection of short stories), all of which are considered masterpieces of Russian literature. He wrote several plays, including Sunset and Maria.
