About
John Hugh MacLennan was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a Canadian author, essayist, novelist and professor of English at McGill University from 1951-1963. He studied at Dalhousie University and the University of Oxford. He earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1935. He wrote several novels include: Barometer Rising, Two Solitudes(won- Governor General's Award for English-language fiction), The Precipice(won- Governor General's Award for English-language fiction), Each Man's Son, The Watch That Ends the Night(won- Governor General's Award for English-language fiction), Return of the Sphinx, and Voices in Time.
