Horatio Alger Jr. was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, USA. He was an American author, best known for his many young adult novels. He earned a BA degree from Harvard University in 1852. He earned an MA degree from Harvard Divinity School in 1860. He wrote several books include: Ragged Dick(novel), Strive and Succeed(novel), Only an Irish Boy(novel), Try and Trust, Jack's Ward, Do and Dare, The Young Bank Messenger, Andy Gordon, The Young Adventurer, Risen from the Ranks, and The Young Outlaw(novel).
